Campaign posters have taken over streets, parks and public spaces in Schwerin as German parties make their final push ahead of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state election on September 20. The Social Democratic Party, Greens, Die Linke, Die PARTEI, Alternative for Germany and other parties are among those campaigning across the state capital. Voters will elect the ninth state parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with polling stations scheduled to open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. The election comes after the AfD won 43.8% in neighbouring Saxony-Anhalt earlier this month, making it the largest party there. The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern vote is therefore another closely watched state election in Germany, although the outcome has not yet been decided. #germany #germanyelection #mecklenburgvorpommern #meckpomm #schwerin #afd #spd #greens #dielinke #germanpolitics #election #stateelection #germany2026 #politics #europe #europeanpolitics #germanews #election2026 #breakingnews #timesnowworld
