The new Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) structure announced for UPI transactions has raised concerns over its complexity and potential impact on small merchants. From October 15, MDR will apply only to merchant UPI payments of ₹2,000 or more, covering about 2.5% of all UPI transactions. The government has directed banks to ensure merchants do not pass the charge on to customers, while the government has denied U.S. pressure behind the move. #UPI #MDR #UPICharges #DigitalPayments
