It begins like how many mysteries usually do - with a body. But not just any body - Robert Nightingale, a former FBI agent possessed by Cauldron Lake's paranatural entity. A-010 - The Shadow, or more commonly known as the Dark Presence. Seemingly missing since the events of the first game, he would re-emerge 13 years later - wandering through the woods around Cauldron Lake. Not that he got far, as mysterious cult members suddenly accosted and stabbed him. Known as the Cult of the Tree, they've been responsible for a string of murders, prompting a closer look by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Agent Saga Anderson is on the scene alongside Alex Casey.
