A new United Nations investigation says a deadly U.S. strike on an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, may have amounted to a war crime, raising serious questions about the targeting process during the opening phase of the U.S.-Iran war. The UN says at least 156 people, including 120 children and 26 teachers, were reportedly killed when the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school was struck. Investigators examined satellite imagery, videos, photographs, expert information and dozens of interviews, concluding there were reasonable grounds to believe the U.S. carried out indiscriminate attacks in two separate strikes. The second strike, in Lamerd, reportedly killed 22 civilians. The U.S. has rejected the UN report as not credible, while the Pentagon says its own investigation remains ongoing.
