U.S. military leaders are preparing for a potential new frontier of warfare — cislunar space, the region between Earth and the Moon. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Dan Caine says American forces must be ready to “fight, endure and win” across contested environments extending from the seabed to cislunar space. The remarks come just days after the U.S. publicly revealed that it has deployed space-control weapons in orbit, although officials have not disclosed exactly what systems were deployed. The U.S. Space Force is also planning to expand to roughly 25,000 personnel over the next five years, with a major focus on combat capabilities. With U.S. officials pointing to growing activity by potential adversaries, including China, the push toward cislunar operations raises major questions about the future of military competition in space, the role of the Space Force, and the legal limits imposed by the 1967 Outer Space Treaty. #USMilitary #USSpaceForce #DanCaine #TrumpMilitary #Mili
