Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and actor Anupam Kher recently crossed paths at a medical imaging clinic in Los Angeles, where both underwent full-body scans. The meeting drew attention online, with some questioning why the two chose to undergo medical tests in the US when advanced diagnostic facilities are also available in India. Tharoor said he was already in Los Angeles for the Jaipur Literature Festival and that the clinic's owner, former Delhi resident Puneet Chandak, had invited both of them. Kher also said he was in the US for a performance of his play, 'Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane'. The episode has since sparked a wider discussion about healthcare access, cost and convenience, and the availability of advanced diagnostic facilities across India's public and private healthcare systems. But does choosing healthcare abroad come down to access, convenience or personal preference? We explain. --- Shashi Tharoor | Anupam Kher | Shashi Tharoor Anupam Kher | Shashi Tharoor Medical Scan |
