Former OpenAI go-to-market executive Zack Kass said the risks posed by artificial intelligence should be taken seriously but argued that the debate over human extinction can distract from more immediate problems, including financial fraud, cognitive dependence on machines, economic disruption and what he called “identity displacement.” In an interview with Times Now, Kass said there was uncertainty over how a catastrophic AI scenario could unfold and that he did not share claims that there was a 10% chance of humanity being wiped out by the end of the decade.
