Nine bodies of murdered women have been found in Johannesburg in similar circumstances since July. Most of the victims were young, in their 20s or 30s, and almost all had suffered extreme violence before their deaths. Women in the city have taken to the streets to march against the violence, after previous protests in South Africa over the high rates of femicide.
