Rookie Starting Week 2? 3 Players To Watch For! There is genuine hope on the horizon for the Green Bay Packers heading into Sunday's Week 2 home opener against the New York Jets — and the most encouraging development is the news that a rookie could be getting a starting role that nobody saw coming just one week into the 2026 season. The film from the Vikings game identified exactly where the Packers need improvement — and the coaching staff's response has been to elevate a rookie who has earned every snap through training camp and preseason dominance into a starting role that could define the entire 2026 defensive identity.
