NATO’s military chief Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a deal on Greenland on Saturday, saying the alliance was already maintaining a strong military presence in the Arctic. Speaking in Copenhagen, Dragone said NATO’s Arctic Sentry activity represented a major commitment and that the alliance was paying close attention to its northern flank. Denmark’s Chief of Defence Michael Wiggers Hyldgaard said Denmark would continue military exercises and cooperation with U.S. forces in the Arctic. Trump has announced an agreement with Denmark and Greenland to expand the U.S. military presence on the island while keeping it under Danish sovereignty. The full terms have not been made public, with the agreement expected to be signed during the UN General Assembly next week. #greenland, #greenlanddeal, #trump, #donaldtrump, #nato, #natoarctic, #arctic, #arcticsecurity, #arcticdefence, #usmilitary, #greenlandmilitary, #denmark, #greenlandnews, #nato
