Just days after Karen Bass stepped down from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) Commission, the Feds say more than $14 million was allegedly stolen from LA homelessness programs. The biggest case involves Michael Young, founder of the nonprofit Home At Last. His organization received more than $118 million in public funds—including more than $75 million from LAHSA alone. Prosecutors say Young used fake companies and fraudulent documents to funnel millions in taxpayer dollars toward a nightclub, luxury vacations, vintage cars and commercial real estate.
