Iran-backed Houthis have fired a ballistic missile towards Riyadh, escalating tensions between Yemen's Houthis and Saudi Arabia amid the wider Iran war. Explosions were reported in the Saudi capital, with flames and a plume of black smoke seen near Riyadh airport. Saudi Arabia says its air defences thwarted the attacks, while the Houthis claim they launched ballistic and cruise missiles and drones targeting sensitive sites in Riyadh and Aramco facilities in Yanbu. Saudi Arabia also reported attempted attacks in Bisha, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu. The escalation has triggered wider regional concerns, with the US warning that hostilities between Riyadh and the Houthis could 'escalate rapidly'. Turkey has offered support to Saudi Arabia, citing its defence agreement with Riyadh and Pakistan, signed in Mecca in August. Watch this video for the latest developments, the Houthi claims, Saudi Arabia's response and what the escalating conflict could mean for West Asia. --- Iran war | Houthis | Sa
