Yemen’s Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree says the group carried out two military operations against Saudi Arabia using ballistic and cruise missiles and drones. Saree said one operation targeted what the Houthis described as sensitive sites in Riyadh, while the second targeted an Aramco facility in Yanbu. The claims came after explosions and a large plume of smoke were reported near Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. Reuters reported that Saudi authorities issued an overnight aerial-threat alert for Riyadh and Al-Kharj before issuing an all-clear. Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the Houthi claims. Saree said the operations were carried out in response to what the Houthis described as Saudi airstrikes on Sanaa. The latest exchange comes amid an escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, with attacks also affecting energy infrastructure and shipping in the region.
