At the School of Yapping, two dozen youths come together to learn how to communicate better offline and forge stronger real-life connections. For some, the challenge goes far beyond making small talk. Yuchen, 34, joins the workshop hoping to build the confidence and finally improve his chances of getting a second date. But as he learns to put himself out there, he is forced to confront what it means to become “The One” for someone else. Amanda, 31, struggles in new social settings and often retreats from conversations when her energy runs out. Learning to communicate may be more than just making friends. Juraimi lives with social anxiety shaped by his upbringing. Tayson battles anxiety when placed in the spotlight and Bryan discovers that the awkwardness he feels in conversation is rooted in years of bullying. As these participants learn to talk, listen and open up, small talk becomes something much bigger – a way to find confidence, connections and a place in the world. WATCH MO
