French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Saint Pierre and Miquelon on Saturday for a visit to the French territory off Canada’s Newfoundland. Macron met local officials and residents and laid a wreath at a memorial to volunteer enlistees before continuing his visit. The trip comes ahead of talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who is due to meet Macron in the archipelago on Sunday. Reuters reports that the visit is aimed at underscoring France’s sovereignty over the territory and its strategic presence in the North Atlantic, while strengthening ties with Canada. Saint Pierre and Miquelon is a French overseas collectivity located about 25 kilometres off Newfoundland. #emmanuelmacron #macron #france #saintpierreetmiquelon #saintpierre #canada #markcarney #newfoundland #northatlantic #frenchterritory #francecanada #geopolitics #northatlanticgeopolitics #worldnews #europe #canadanews #frenchn ews #breakingnews #globalpolitics #timesnowworld Stay connected with Times Now Worl
