Leaders in Isiolo County have turned their guns on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, accusing him of incompetence and inaction in tackling the rising banditry in northern Kenya. The leaders warned President Ruto that continued insecurity could cost him the support of pastoralist communities ahead of the 2027 general election, with some threatening to abandon the region’s two-term campaign if the government fails to act. Speaking in Isiolo South constituency, during a fundraiser for the construction of a madrassa, the leaders, led by Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo, accused security agencies of neglecting communities, as bandits continue to kill residents and drive away livestock. Five people, including two police officers, were killed on Wednesday, and hundreds of livestock driven away.
