Uganda has suspended military cooperation with Turkey amid a diplomatic row over political blogger Fred Lumbuye, who is wanted by Kampala and has been living in Turkey for several years. He is a critic of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni. Uganda is seeking his extradition, with Lumbuye facing 15 criminal charges, including alleged incitement of violence, spreading false information and cybercrimes. The dispute escalated after Uganda's army chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba called for protests outside the Turkish embassy. Hundreds of Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) supporters protested on September 18, prompting the embassy to suspend its services.
