Russians living in Armenia cast ballots on Sunday in the final day of Russia’s three-day parliamentary election, while anti-war demonstrators gathered outside the Russian Embassy in Yerevan. Voters interviewed by the Associated Press described a tense atmosphere at the embassy and alleged that election officials made intimidating remarks, claims that were not independently verified. Some participants said they did not expect their ballots to affect the result but viewed voting and protesting as a way to express opposition to the war in Ukraine and connect with like-minded Russians. One activist said the group could not influence the election’s outcome but could influence public sentiment. Russia’s Sept. 18-20 election is the first parliamentary vote since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and the ruling United Russia party is expected to retain its dominance in the State Duma. #russia #russiaelection #russianelection #stateduma #putin #vladimirputin #russiasnews #russians #a
