Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said new U.S. sanctions targeting Russian oil and gas are unlikely to improve relations between Moscow and Washington or contribute to progress toward a settlement in Ukraine. Speaking in Moscow on Monday, Peskov said the measures would do little to help revive bilateral ties or advance negotiations over the conflict. He also pointed to Russia’s experience with previous sanctions, saying the country had adapted to extensive external restrictions and developed ways to reduce their economic impact. Peskov cited more than 30,000 sanctions imposed on Russia across countries, companies, sectors and individuals.
