A Panama-flagged bulk carrier has collided with a Chinese fishing boat near the Singapore Strait, with dramatic footage capturing the moment of impact. The vessels involved were the 229-metre bulk carrier First Margaux and the approximately 49-metre Chinese fishing vessel Luqing Yuanyu 108. Video recorded from the fishing vessel shows the much larger ship approaching before the collision, causing the smaller vessel to tilt sharply as crew members appear to hold on. The incident occurred near the Singapore Strait, one of the world’s busiest maritime routes. Both vessels had reportedly entered the area’s traffic separation scheme before the collision. The fishing vessel appears to have remained afloat following the incident. No casualties were reported in the information available, while the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
