Centre for Migration Control research director Robert Bates warns that the reported cost of Universal Credit paid to households containing foreign nationals reached £12 billion in 2025, up from £7.5 billion in 2023. Bates argues that Britain’s welfare system is becoming unsustainable and calls for tighter restrictions on access to benefits, naturalisation and indefinite leave to remain. He also condemns the proposed placement of 1,250 male asylum seekers in the small Oxfordshire village of Piddington, accusing Labour of ignoring residents’ concerns about local services and safety. #UniversalCredit #Immigration #WelfareState Have you got a story?
