World War Z 2 Is Officially Happening | Brad Pitt Returns After 13 Years World War Z 2 is officially moving forward. Paramount has closed deals for Brad Pitt to return as Gerry Lane and Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front, Conclave) to direct. Dennis Kelly is writing the script. Pitt will also produce with Plan B. The original World War Z (2013) made over $540 million worldwide. A sequel has been stuck in development hell for more than a decade — J.A. Bayona and David Fincher were both attached at different points and both versions collapsed. No plot details. No release date. No trailer. This is the first real confirmation that the movie is actually happening.
