Earl Spencer’s memoir about Princess Diana has been published almost 30 years after her death, reopening a bitter dispute with King Charles over what happened in the days following the Paris crash. The book includes Spencer’s claim that Charles told him Diana would be forgotten “soon enough”, an account Buckingham Palace has challenged while Spencer insists his recollection is accurate. Royal correspondent Rupert Bell questions why such deeply personal claims are being aired now and says Diana’s family history is once again being dragged into a very public dispute. Peter Cardwell speaks with Talk’s royal correspondent Rupert Bell. Have you got a story?
