North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw the September 20 test of a “new-type weapon system,” state media reported, describing it as a major advance in the country’s military technology. Pyongyang has not specified what the weapon is, but Kim said acquiring the technology was important for war readiness and the future development of North Korea’s armed forces. The announcement came two days after South Korea and Japan said North Korea had fired two short-range ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast. Seoul condemned the launches as violations of UN Security Council resolutions, while Japan lodged a “stern protest”. The latest weapons test also comes as Pyongyang continues to insist that its nuclear status is permanent and irreversible. #northkorea #kimjongun #northkoreaweapon #missile #missiletest #northkoreamissile #kimjongunwarning #nuclearweapons #pyongyang #southkorea #japan #seoul #geopolitics #military #asiapacific #breakingnews #worldnews #militarytechnology Stay co
