In a striking diplomatic irony, the United States is providing a security detail for Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi during his visit to New York for the United Nations General Assembly. Araghchi requested protection from the U.S. State Department after a review of threats against him, and the request was approved. The U.S. Diplomatic Security Service is providing the security detail during his stay. The arrangement comes despite decades of hostility between Washington and Tehran, with the two countries having no diplomatic relations since 1979. Araghchi is in New York to lead Iran’s diplomatic efforts at the UN General Assembly, putting senior Iranian and American officials in the same international forum as tensions between the two governments remain high. #Iran #USA #USIran #AbbasAraghchi #UNGA #UnitedNations #IranNews #USNews #IranUS #Diplomacy #Geopolitics #MiddleEast #NewYork #Trump #Pezeshkian Times Of India (TOI) Is The Largest Selling English Daily In The World.
