A desert, two pairs of hands, and a promise that spans 27 years. Yin Yuzhen, a desertification fighter in China's Mu Us Desert, has spent four decades turning barren sands into a sprawling forest. Ronald Sakolsky, a retired American history teacher, was moved by a five-minute CCTV news report to reach across the Pacific and lend a helping hand. A Chinese tree planter, an American donor, a kind act across the ocean – how did these two strangers reunite in an emotional embrace in the desert after 27 years? In this CGTN special, One Earth, One Promise, we follow the host into the heart of the Mu Us Desert to witness the true story of Yin Yuzhen and Ronald Sakolsky. Amid the meeting of wind-blown sands and emerald green, we see how two ordinary people, through a single tree, a jar of sand, and a bowl of noodles, have written a narrative of China-US people-to-people connection far more moving than any headline. #ChinaUS
