Jewish Telegraph editor Paul Harris says he feels “no sympathy” for Ed Sheeran after the singer addressed the Israel–Gaza conflict and the controversy surrounding Macklemore’s reported removal from his tour. Paul argues that the row is not simply about Macklemore expressing support for Palestine, pointing instead to previous imagery and lyrics that critics have accused of invoking antisemitic stereotypes. He also warns that interventions by globally influential performers can affect impressionable young audiences and embolden extremists. Ed Sheeran condemned the October 7 attacks while describing the devastation in Gaza as “catastrophic and unjustifiable”. Harris nevertheless accuses him of presenting an incomplete account of the conflict and overlooking the suffering of Israeli civilians. #EdSheeran #Macklemore #Antisemitism Have you got a story?
