Much to the shock of the Danish public, their beloved Queen Margrethe II abdicated on New Year's Eve in 2023. It was the first time in nearly 900 years that a Danish sovereign voluntarily stepped down from the throne. But was this actually a strategical move on Margrethe's part to bring the Danish Royal Family together in the wake of scandal? With Margrethe gone, Richard Eden, the Daily Mail's Diary Editor, questions how the Danish Royal Family will cope. Will King Frederik be able to overcome his mother's shock abdication, his brother Prince Joachim's complaints about the stripping of his children's titles, and claims that he cheated on his Australian born wife Queen Mary?
