Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett revealed during an exclusive E! News interview one specific detail their Verity movie adaptation kept that was straight from the book. “Maybe Verity could be a brunette, but we can’t mess up the headboard bite,” Hathaway explained of a very explicit scene in the movie and book, written by Colleen Hoover. While she says the film has some changes to the novel, Hathaway—who not only stars as the titular character but also is a producer of the film—explained there were certain aspects of the book they had to honor. “It’s too specific and unusual, and so if we’re gonna make this movie, we have to get a detail like that right.” Verity opens in theaters Oct. 2.
