Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned the United Nations on Thursday against what he called another “Nakba,” saying Palestinians would not accept displacement or leave their homeland. In a prerecorded address to the General Assembly, Abbas accused Israel of killing, destruction, starvation and displacement in Gaza and of settlement expansion and other measures in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. He called for implementation of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan and Security Council Resolution 2803, while demanding an end to the occupation and a clear political path toward a two-state solution. Abbas also said more than $6 billion in Palestinian funds were being withheld by the Israeli government and called for their release.
