Russian and Sri Lankan troops took part in the Wolverine Trail 2026 joint military drills in Russia’s Primorsky region on Thursday, September 24, with soldiers conducting weapons training, tactical activities and mobility exercises. Sri Lankan servicemen were seen testing Russian AK-12 assault rifles, with one officer saying it was the first time they had used the weapon, while troops also trained on buggies and quad bikes. Ruwan, an unmanned systems officer from Sri Lanka’s 15th Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Regiment, said he had travelled to the exercises to learn about Russian drone handling and technology and to share that knowledge with his soldiers. The drills, organised jointly by Russia and Sri Lanka, highlight ongoing military-to-military engagement between the two countries. Footage released by the Russian Defence Ministry showed the participating troops communicating, examining weapons and receiving briefings during the exercise. #russia #srilanka #russiasrilanka #wolverinetrail
