Russia’s permanent representative to international organisations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, accused Western countries of effectively encouraging what he described as Ukrainian attacks on nuclear facilities through their silence. Speaking at the IAEA General Conference, Ulyanov also criticised U.S. and European pressure on Iran over nuclear inspections, arguing that inspectors could face risks while military strikes continue. He said Moscow believed the European and U.S. approach reflected double standards on nuclear safety and defended Russia’s position that a lasting peace, rather than a temporary truce, should be pursued in Ukraine. Ulyanov also rejected claims that Russia poses a threat to Ukraine’s nuclear facilities and described Ukrainian air-raid alerts around nuclear plants as a “theatrical performance.” His remarks represent the Kremlin’s position and include allegations that were not independently established in the statement. #russia, #ukraine, #russiaukrainewar, #russiauk
