U.S. officials believe Chinese-provided imagery helped Iran improve target identification and tracking, including during a July strike on a U.S. base in Jordan that killed three American service members. The intelligence support is also believed to have helped Iran monitor U.S. escort operations and commercial shipping through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
