How do human activities affect freshwater ecosystems? In this high school biology lesson, students will investigate toxic algal blooms and invasive zebra and quagga mussels in Lake Erie. Students will analyze real-world evidence to understand how these human-caused challenges disrupt ecosystem equilibrium and reduce biodiversity. Then they'll research sustainability solutions. This is part of MiaPrep's Biology course.
