How did the appearance of eukaryotic life change Earth? In this high school biology lesson from MiaPrep, students explore two major groups of eukaryotes: protists and fungi. Students will examine how each of these kingdoms obtain energy and interact with their environments. They will explain their important roles in ecosystems such as aquatic food webs and nutrient cycling. Using evidence from fossils and biochemical evidence, students investigate how eukaryotes expanded biodiversity and contributed to the development of new environments, including early oceans and soils. This is video 2 of 2 for the lesson "The First Eukaryotes: Protists and Fungi."
