How do scientists classify new organisms? In this lesson, students will use evidence to evaluate how organisms are classified within biological classification systems. They will do this through a case study on the platypus. They will use this same process and apply it to classify another unique animal: the tuatara. They will construct and communicate a scientific argument about the relationship between the tuatara and other organisms, including the development of a cladogram.
