Kent County Council leader Linden Kemkaran claims the number of people entering Britain undetected could be far higher than official Channel-crossing figures suggest. Following reports of two uncontrolled landings in Kent, Linden says residents regularly witness dinghies arriving along the county’s extensive coastline before passengers enter waiting vehicles and disappear.  She also highlights migrants reportedly hiding inside lorries and claims some may be using inland waterways to evade detection. Linden says she would “comfortably double” the known arrival figure to estimate the true scale of irregular migration, while accusing the Government of failing in its fundamental duty to secure Britain’s borders.
