The mass shooter who killed eight people in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., in February used a second ChatGPT account to get advice on how to get around safety guardrails that got her first account blocked, according to a report in Mother Jones magazine. Mark Follman, who broke the story, says using the OpenAI chatbot to gain information, create violent scenarios and skirt safeguards has a severe psychological impact on troubled and vulnerable users. OpenAI is currently facing litigation led by the B.C. government over allegations that the company's negligence contributed to the mass shooting. CBC News has not be able to independently verify the reporting in Mother Jones. »»» Subscribe to CBC News to watch more videos: http://bit.ly/1RreYWS For breaking news, video, audio and in-depth coverage: https://www.cbc.ca/news Follow CBC News on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@cbcnews Subscribe to CBC News on Snapchat: https://bit.ly/3leaWsr Subscribe to CBC News on WhatsApp: https://www.whatsapp.com/
