7,500 years ago, the Pacific floor collapsed. Today, robot subs have found proof of at least ten megaquakes. And researchers warn: the plates are still locked and building pressure right now. The fault is called the Cascadia Subduction Zone, and it stretches from Northern California to Canada. It can produce a magnitude 9.0 earthquake, drop the coastline by more than 2 meters in minutes, and send a tsunami racing toward the US coast at 800 to 965 kilometers per hour.
