Brisbane Lions midfielder Lachie Neal was booed by crowds during the AFL Grand Final Parade in Melbourne following a controversial year that included an on-field striking incident for which he received a suspension that was later overturned. The incident has sparked debate about whether booing at family-friendly sporting events is appropriate and what message the AFL's handling of on-field violence sends to young players. Commentators and journalists discuss the acceptability of fans expressing their disapproval through booing versus maintaining appropriate behaviour in front of children.
