Saudi Arabia used its address to the United Nations General Assembly to accuse Iran of what it called “flagrant” attacks targeting the kingdom’s security, resources and civilian and economic facilities, while asserting its right to protect its sovereignty and national interests. Riyadh also called for the Strait of Hormuz to be restored to its pre-February 28 status without fees or restrictions, saying freedom of navigation through the waterway was vital to global energy security, international trade and supply chains. Saudi Arabia backed de-escalation efforts involving Qatar, Pakistan and other countries, and welcomed international condemnation of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. It also criticised Israel over the situation in Gaza and the West Bank and reiterated support for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. #saudiarabia #saudi #iran #irannews #gulf #straitofhormuz #hormuz #redsea #hout
