Protesters marched through Munich on Saturday demanding the resignation of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s government and new federal elections, while criticising Germany’s defence spending, economic policies and approach towards Russia. AfD lawmaker Rainer Rothfuss, who attended the demonstration, said recent shifts in Germany’s political landscape justified calls for another election and criticised Merz’s military build-up, saying it risked escalation with Russia. Demonstrators also raised concerns over healthcare, social spending, migration and German support for Ukraine. The protest comes amid a broader political debate in Germany over defence spending, the economy, Russia policy and the role of the AfD. #munich #germany #merz #afd #rainerrothfuss #germanpolitics #germanyprotest #munichprotest #germanyrearmament #russia #russiagermany #militaryspending #germanmilitary #germanyelections #newelections #ukraine #germanyukraine #europe #europeanews #timesnowworld Stay connected with Time
