“[Young people] quite easily pay more in rent every single month than in many cases they would pay in a mortgage but can't get the down payment.” Labour’s "Your First Home" scheme will allow first-time buyers in England to buy a new-build property with a 2.5% deposit and a 20% equity loan, this will give the younger generation a “really important” access point to “own something that theirs” says Labour MP for Glasgow South West, Zubir Ahmed.
