Munich has been selected as Germany’s candidate city to bid for the Summer Olympic Games in 2036, 2040 or 2044. The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) chose Munich at its general assembly on September 26, with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier announcing the result. Munich, which last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1972, defeated the Cologne-Rhine-Ruhr bid after Berlin withdrew from the process shortly before the vote. The Munich proposal includes the use of the Olympic Park built for the 1972 Games. Germany now faces an international field of interested potential hosts, particularly if it targets 2036. The IOC has said more than 10 cities or countries have expressed interest, including India, Indonesia, South Africa, Santiago, Doha, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympics, followed by Brisbane in 2032. The IOC has not yet announced when it will select the host for the subsequent Games. #Munich #Olympics #Germany #OlympicGames #SportsNews US
