Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah has delivered a stark warning at the United Nations, calling for urgent climate action after devastating floods in Nepal killed at least 1,400 people and left more than 6,000 missing. Describing the disaster as a “Himalayan Tsunami,” Shah warned that melting permafrost, unstable mountain slopes, glacial risks and extreme flooding are making the Himalayan region increasingly vulnerable. He called for climate justice, stronger early-warning systems, greater climate financing and a new Himalayan Climate Resilience Mechanism involving Nepal, India and China. Shah also warned that countries like Nepal are facing the consequences of climate change despite contributing very little to global greenhouse-gas emissions. #NepalFloods #NepalClimateCrisis #HimalayanTsunami #ClimateJustice #BalendraShah #NepalPM #UNGeneralAssembly #UNGA81 #Himalayas #ClimateChange #NepalDisaster #HimalayanFloods #ClimateAction #ClimateResilience #GlacialFloods #NepalNews #Indi
