The BBC has removed a Katherine Ryan joke about Victoria Beckham from an episode of Have I Got News For You on iPlayer after upholding complaints from two viewers. The remark aired in November 2025. After reviewing it, the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit decided that comparing Beckham to a highly offensive word had no sufficient editorial justification. The edited episode is now available on iPlayer. Rafe Heydel-Mankoo questions the time and public money spent investigating two complaints about a comedy show. Alex Phillips speaks with Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, historian and fellow at the New Culture Forum. Have you got a story?
