Presiding over an open-air Mass on the Prairie at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes during his apostolic journey to France, Pope Leo XIV delivered a moving homily centered on conversion, human dignity, and global peace. Addressing 150,000 pilgrims gathered at the renowned Marian shrine, the Holy Father urged the faithful to embrace repentance, prioritize eternal life over temporary material progress, and defend the sacred value of human life against modern societal pressures. In his address, Pope Leo XIV reflected on the Marian apparitions to St. Bernadette, emphasizing Mary’s call to "penitence, penitence, penitence." The Pope highlighted the central role of sick and suffering pilgrims—calling them the irreplaceable heart of the Church—and urged the Church itself to humbly seek purification and conversion to heal past wounds. Concluding his sermon, Pope Leo XIV commissioned the pilgrims to return home as "missionaries of hope" and bearers of divine comfort. #PopeLeoXIV #Lourdes #
