Before streaming, before social media, before smartphones — millions of people started their day with the same three seconds of music. These are the stories behind every Windows startup sound, from a synth preset in 1992 to Brian Eno composing on a Mac. 💡 What you'll learn: - Why Microsoft hired one of the most legendary musicians in history to compose a sound shorter than most sneezes — and why he did it on a Mac - How a simple "Ta-da" built from a Korg M1 synth preset accidentally became the sound of an entire era of computing - The real reason Windows 8 went silent after 20 years of startup chimes, and why most people barely noticed - Why Windows 11 brought the startup sound back — and it wasn't just nostalgia; it was accessibility - How Vista's startup sound quietly outlived Vista itself and became the sound most people associate with Windows 7 🍿 Timestamps: 0:00 Windows 3.1 1:00 Windows 95 2:11 Windows 98 2:55 Windows 2000 3:37 Windows XP 4:19 Windows Vista & 7 5:26 Windows 8
