Pope Leo XIV arrived in Lourdes on Saturday and opened his pilgrimage to the French shrine with a prayer at the Grotto of the Apparitions, where Catholics believe the Virgin Mary appeared to shepherdess Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. The pope travelled to Lourdes after celebrating an outdoor Mass in Paris as part of his four-day visit to France. The shrine attracts millions of visitors each year, with many coming to the site associated with a spring whose water is believed by some pilgrims to have healing properties. The Catholic Church has formally recognized 72 cases as miraculous recoveries, according to an Associated Press report. During his stay, Leo is also scheduled to meet victims of sexual abuse. #popeleo, #popeleoXIV, #lourdes, #lourdesfrance, #catholic, #catholicchurch, #virginmary, #ourladyoflourdes, #bernadette, #lourdesgrotto, #vatican, #pope, #pilgrimage, #france, #religion, #christianity, #popevisit, #worldnews, #breakingnews In this Times Now World News report, we break
