Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Navy says it has captured a U.S. Remus 600 autonomous underwater vehicle in the Strait of Hormuz and claims the unmanned system was conducting espionage. According to Iranian state media, the Guards used intelligence and electronic-warfare capabilities to locate and seize the underwater drone. Iranian military officials say the vehicle is now being examined by specialists, with efforts underway to recover the data stored inside. The Remus 600 is an autonomous underwater vehicle designed for missions including underwater surveys and mine-related operations. Iran has not publicly provided independent evidence confirming that the vehicle was carrying out a spying mission. The reported seizure comes as the Strait of Hormuz remains at the centre of tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides conducting operations around the strategically important waterway. Iran has also previously claimed to have seized another U.S. underwater drone in the same area
